Lots of people of all nationalities are so rude these days. Just the other Saturday when I was getting from John Lewis to Selfridges down Oxford Street, I found it to be a journey fraught with black looks and bad manners. Did I join them? No, it's not in my nature (OK very rarely). I just kept smiling and thanking people and occasionally got rewarded with a smile back. My reward was the best Salt Beef sandwich in Selfridges. I didn't want to ruin my appetite by dwelling on others rudeness. Guess it boils down to - it's the person, not the country. Jan I read both posts and must admit to smiling just a tad.
